The project
Dance Moves is a personal passion project I developed during the COVID-19 lockdown to sharpen my coding skills and learn new technologies. What started as a way to make the best of a difficult situation became a fully realized mobile dancing game, which I designed, developed, and launched on the Google Play Store.
The process
My process began with extensive self-guided research and experimentation in C#. I dove into learning complex concepts like character rigging and animation to bring the game to life. By focusing on a hands-on approach, I successfully developed a system for creating simple rig animations for the game's characters. This project went from concept to a live product, which I launched and maintained on the Google Play Store for several years.
My role
As the sole designer and developer on this fun, yet demanding project, I was responsible for the entire product lifecycle. This experience was foundational in teaching me how to think like a developer, which is a crucial skill for any designer. By understanding the technical constraints and possibilities, I learned how to create interfaces that are not only user-friendly but also feasible to implement, a skill that now defines my collaborative approach with development teams and other designers.
